EASTER SUNDAY
MARCH 31
Jesus died; His intention is that we follow.
Work through the following questions and scriptures on your own, and get together with your running partner, life group, or friends and family to talk through what you are learning.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- What is something that you hope is true about you? How have you aligned your life to make that a reality. (i.e. I want to be a great daughter. In order to do that, I go visit my parents every other month and call them weekly.)?
- Read John 18:33-37.
Make some observations about this passage (What does the text say?):
- What do you notice and what are you curious about?
Make some interpretations (What does the passage mean?)
- What do you learn about humanity?
- What do you learn about God?
Now make some applications (what’s my response?)
- How are you encouraged, challenged, or convicted by this passage?
- What should be our response to this passage?
3. Read Numbers 23:19. Do you believe what God says? In what ways do you struggle to believe God or His character?
4. Is Jesus the King of your life? If so, in what ways do you live out Jesus being the King? In what ways do you act as the King of your life?
5. Read John 14:6. Jesus said this about himself. Do you believe this? If so, how has this reality changed your life? If not, what holds you back?
KEY SCRIPTURES
John 18:33-37 “Are you the king of the Jews?” “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?” “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”“You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Numbers 23:19 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
PRAYER
Adoration: This kind of prayer is defined as praising God for who God is. We praise the nature of God reminding ourselves that God the Father is the source of life and that Jesus is the King and the one who redeemed us from our sin and brokenness, and the Holy Spirit is our encourager and the one who empowers us to be transformed into a new creation. Today, spend some time in adoration of God. You can simply say the names for God and thank him, or give specific praises for His character and what He has done in your life.
TAKE A NEXT STEP
